Campground bike rideYogi Bear™ and Boo Boo™ and our activities staff want to make sure that you'll have a great time camping with us at Jellystone Park™ in Indian River. Daily activities will always include a chance for everyone to visit with Yogi Bear and Boo Boo, as well as games, crafts, wagon rides, candy bar bingo and evening cartoons. Theme weekends provide extra fun and excitement for the whole family!

 

Campground Capers 2013 

     Get ready for another summer of fun at Jellystone Park™ in Indian River!  Themed weekend activites and visits with Yogi Bear™ begin with our first weekend of the season, and daily sctivities and visits with Yogi Bear and Boo Boo™ begin Jun 12 (as soon as school is out for the season) and continue until school resumes in the fall.  Weekend actvities continue until we close September 30.

May 15:  CAMPGROUND OPENS FOR THE SEASON.  Campsites and rentals are 50% off through May 23.

May 17 - 19:  Annual Campground Clean-up Weekend:  We have so much fun this weekend that we're doing it again!  Bring your rakes and work gloves and prepare for a day of helping us tidy up for the season.  CAMP FREE as our thanks for your help!  Cabins are available for 75% off if you help out!  Potluck supper on Saturday evening.

May 24:  POOL OPENS FOR THE SEASON

May 24 - 27:  Memorial Day Weekend:  Kick start your summer with all your favorite Jellystone Park activites.  Wagon rides with Yogi Bear and Boo Boo, the Indian River Box Car 500 Race, Bouncy Horse races, crafts, games, cartoons, Candy Bar Bingo and even a group campfire/S'mores roast!  We'll honor our veterans and active military with a brief ceremony and a Panckae breakfast (&-free for vets or active military) on Memorial Day morning.  Late check-out (by 5pm) at no charge!

May 31 - June 2:  Easter at Jellystone Park:  We'll have a GIANT egg hunt for the kids, and even the parents will have a hunt (for the Golden Egg) all their own!  Traditional Easter activities and some new twists will round out the weekend.  We'll supply pancakes and beverages for a potluck brunch on Sunday.  Late check-out (by 5 pm) at no charge!

June 7 - 9:  Camper - Ranger Challenge:  Join in the fun with challenges for all ages!  There will be "hard" challenges like Tug-o-War or Shower Cleaning and "soft" challlenges like trivia games or leading a song on the wagon sing-along, and goofy challenges like the chugging challenge.  We'll unveil our new Junior Ranger Program which encourages kids to participate in campground activities as well as learn some basic environmental ethics and campground courtesy as they earn a Junior Ranger Patch.

June 14 - 16:  Fathers Day Weekend:  We'll be celebrating Dad all weekend!  Make a kite to participate in the Father-Kid Kite Fly, indulge in ice cream sundaes at the Ice Cream Social ($ - free for Dad), and enjoy an old-fashioned back yard cookout/potluck on Saturday evening.  Horse Shoe Tournament for Dads (entry fee, split the pot for the winner), scavneger hunts and more.

June 21 - 23:  Cindy Bear™ Circus Weekend:  CINDY BEAR will be here this weekend with lots of fun "circus" activities.  We'll welcome her with our own Circus Parade, so be sure to bring your wagon!  There will be midway games and more on Saturday, and we'll close with a Light Stick Parade Saturday evening.  Don't miss the magic show, "John Dudley Comedy Magic" on Saturday evening, and the magic workshop for the kids on Saturday afternoon!

June 28 - 30:  Pirates Weekend:  Buried Treasure Hunts for all ages:  our most challenging one for teens and adults, one especially for ages 8 - 12, and even the little ones can dig for buried treasure.  New pirate crafts and games.  Will you be thrown in the brig or "walk the plank"?

July 1:  Canada Day Celebration!  Wear your Red and White, and wave the Maple Leaf!  Special activities for our Canadian Campers!

July 4 - 8:  Independence Celebration!   Celebrate the Red, White and Blue!  We'll do tie-dye, decorate ourselves and our bikes, wagons, etc. for our "parade in the park", and we'll decorate a red, white and blue tree!  The weekend will also include an Ice Cream Social ($), plenty of games, arts & crafts and other surprises!

July 12 - 14:  Christmas in July:  Summer wouldn't be complete without our Christmas in July weekend...Don't forget the Decorate Your Site contest!  We'll decorate Yogi Bear's Christmas tree, and Santa and Yogi Bear will pass out gifts (Mom and Dad, please bring an inexpensive gift for Santa to give to your child), and get ready for some Christmas / Winter fun building graham cracker houses , or racing on ice block sleds!

July 19 - 21:  Western Round-up:  Plenty of fun, western style, for all!  Maple Ridge Stables will be back hosting pony and horseback rides, and will provide a demonstration of how the Pony Express would have been ridden in the old west.  Saturday, July 20th is National Hot Dog Day, so we'll feature a hot dog bar at our Chuck wagon Supper ($) on Saturday evening.

July 26 - 28:  Poseidon's Undersea Kingdom:  This weekend will be all about the underwater world!  Prepare to get wet with treasure hunts in the pool, and water balloon volleyball.  Top off the fun with the Mermaid or Merman costume contest - Prizes awarded for the best costumes - teens and adults too!

August 2 - 4:  Mexican Fiesta!  Join us for pinatas, Mexican crafts, and a watermelon eating contest to celebrate National Watermelon Day.  Ranger Kim will bring some of her homemade Salsa and chips, and welcomes others to share their Salsas for "Virgin Margarita Hour"!  Prizes awarded for best Salsas!

August 9 - 11:  Birthday Party for Yogi Bear and Boo Boo:  Since National Banana Split Day is Saturday, August 10, Yogi Bear and Boo Boo requested having a Banana Split Bar ($) for their Birthday Party!  There'll be plenty of other party fun as we help the bears celebrate their birthdays!

August 16 - 18:  Haunted Halloween:  Prepare to scare (we'll be looking for some teen volunteers) or to be scared on our haunted trail in the woods.  Oh, and don't forget the costumes and the candy for Trick-or-Treat, and the decorations for the decorated sites contest!

August 23 - 25:  Thanksgiving at Jellystone Park:  Plenty of "fall" fun and our annual potluck FEAST!  Our staff will provide the turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy and beverages, and we ask that you bring a dish to share!  Anyone for a little touch football?

August 30 - September 2:  Labor Day / Back to School Weekend:  Hats off to the American Laborer!  Wear your craziest hat this weekend:  our rangers will be randomly handing out prizes for those folks whose crazy hat they favor!  Celebrate the last big weekend of the summer with Yogi Bear and Boo Boo as we replay some of the season's best activities!

     Sorry, this is the end of the daily activities schedule for the season, but themed weekend activities continue until we close on September 30.

September 3:  POOL CLOSES FOR THE SEASON.  Camping rates are now 25% off, or 50% off for seniors (62+).  The park is beautiful in the fall and quiet during the week; it's a great time for empty-nesters to camp!

September 6 - 8:  Games Gala:  We'll feature games of all kinds this weekend...active outdoor games, knowledge games, nonsense games, and of course Candy Bar Bingo!  Maybe you'll even want to make a game to take home with you!

September 13 - 15:  Safari Weekend:  We'll take you on "safari" northern Michigan style...will you see signs of deer, coyote, bobcat or bear?  Will  you hear the call of the loon, or owl?  How may varieties of squirrel will you be able to spot?

September 20 -22:  Fall Fest!  There's a nip in the evening air, and after Sunday our days will begin to get shorter.  So come camping for some fun with fall crafts, and join us around the group campfire on Saturday evening to share some easy apple recipes.  Yum!

September 27 - 29:  Halloween II:  A not-so-haunted Halloween celebration complete with Trick-or Treat, scavenger hunts and crafts.

September 30:  CAMPGROUND CLOSES FOR THE SEASON
